Matthew Shaw
Chief Underwriting Officer, ACE Global Markets
Chairman, ACE Tempest Re Europe
Matthew Shaw was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for ACE Global Markets in June 2008, at the same time he also assumed the position of Chairman for ACE Tempest Re Europe where he was previously Managing Director.
In his role as Chief Underwriting Officer for ACE Global Markets he reports into Richard Pryce, President ACE UK.
He joined ACE in October 2002 to manage ACE’s reinsurance business. He has been in the insurance industry for 23 years, starting his career at Lloyds in 1982 working in Aviation and Non Marine lines, underwriting both direct and reinsurance business.

He became deputy Underwriter for Syndicate 340 in 1993 and Active Underwriter in 2000. He has served as a member the Lloyds Aviation Underwriters Association and ABI committees. He was also a board director of Gravett and Tilling syndicate management and from 1987 a director of St Paul at Lloyds.
